Free-to-play with in-app purchases in multiple languages
The Pokémon Company released the Pokémon Magikarp Jump smartphone game for iOS and Android devices on Tuesday. The official Pokémon YouTube channels began streaming promotional videos for the game in English and Japanese.
In the game, players raise and train Magikarp to jump as high as possible. Players can compete to become League Champion. Successive generations of Magikarp that players raise become stronger. Some other Pokémon will appear to provide food and help raise Magikarp.
Basic gameplay is free, but in-app purchases are available. The game is available in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and traditional Chinese. The game also launched in Japan on Tuesday.
Magikarp’s official song received an English version earlier this month.
