Meet singles and eat and drink as much as you like in a prime location right next to the Pacific. And all for free (if you’re a girl).
Aisekiya are a chain of izakaya Japanese-style bars where eating and drinking take a backseat to meeting local singles at goukon-style dating parties. While other bars may struggle to attract female customers, Aisekiya solves this by offering women all-you-can-eat-and-drink courses for free.
For male customers, the prices are rather less sympathetic, with a table charge of 1,000 yen (US$8.89) and a further 1,500 yen for each thirty-minute interval of eating and drinking (1,800 yen on Friday or Saturday nights). And should their male company prove unsatisfactory, women are able to ask the staff to switch their drinking partners.
And yet, the strategy is clearly working as the company has gone from strength to strength, with bars opening up across Japan to provide men and women with the opportunity to meet one another. This year, for the first time, Aisekiya will be opening up a beach house in Yuigahama in Kanagawa Prefecture, a mere hour or so by train from central Tokyo.
From July 1 through to August 31, Aisekiya Beach House will be open to those looking for love, or perhaps just free drinks for the ladies. Just a stone’s throw from the ocean, the Beach House is likely to be pretty popular. Especially as the first weekend, for which bookings are currently being taken, offers free drinking for the menfolk too, although the table charge still applies. That’s right – for two days only, equality. Although ladies may also choose to partake of the free services, with body painting on July 1 and hair-braiding on July 2. All you have to do is show the tweet below to a member of staff.

Should you find yourself heading that way this summer, you could do far worse than prepare yourself with some romance pointers.
