And it’s coming to U.S. bathrooms near you this fall.
When you hear “Japanese toilet”, do you think of the pit-style “squatty potty” or the multi-functional but confusing washlet? It’s a fifty-fifty shot, but chances are you’re probably thinking of the washlet, Japan’s high-tech bathroom invention that has become so popular that even cats want to use them.
And now Toto, the primary producer of Japanese washlets, is taking washlets to the next level. They have been working on an ultra-luxurious, super high-end washlet called the NEOREST NX, which they are planning to retail at US$11,000 in the U.S.
Think that’s too much for a toilet? Think again. This porcelain throne is designed with a number of executive features to maintain maximum cleanliness, hygiene, comfort, and even “hospitality”, which might make it worth the exorbitant price tag.
To start, this washlet will probably keep you from ever having to pick up a toilet brush again. It’s got an “ultra smooth” ceramic surface on the inside, which makes waste materials slide right down into the water. Plus, when the toilet sees you coming (and yes, it sees you!), it sprays a fine mist inside the bowl in preparation to keep the surfaces moist, which helps keep even more nasties away from the walls.
The 360-degree tornado flush makes sure everything goes down smooth to keep you from ever having to plunge. And finally, after you finish, the toilet sprays ionized-water around the bowl to get rid of those persistent dirt and waste particles.
The mist and the ionized water also keep the toilet nice and hygienic for you, so you’ll never have to worry about picking up any yucky germs while doing your business. The bidet spigot cleans itself with the ionized water too, and the toilet even boasts a UV light bulb that further knocks out those tiny waste particles, keeping you, your toilet, and your tush clean and germ-free.
But that’s not all. This toilet is designed for “hospitality,” which means you don’t have to do a thing but what you came to do. It opens the lid when you walk up, warms up the seat, deodorizes any smelly transactions, auto flushes when you’re done, and then politely closes the lid after you leave. Of course it’s got a bidet and an air dryer, so you don’t even have to bother with toilet paper. All you have to do is sit.
Oh, and don’t forget the soft night-light, “so users do not have to disturb themselves at night with a bright bathroom light.” Truly a throne fit for kings!
▼ If this statement from the official page doesn’t make you want to get one
of these toilets, then maybe it’s time to reevaluate your priorities.
I get it, we can’t all afford to just drop $11,000 on a toilet. But think of how much money you’ll save on toilet paper in the long run!
The NEOREST NX washlet from Toto is currently available in Japan and a few other Asian countries, but it’s slated for a U.S. release later on this year, so get out your kitty bank and start saving!
