Customers get to enjoy four floors of steamy hot baths, exquisite restaurants, and fun activities right in the heart of Osaka.
Despite Japan boasting a number of quality hot springs scattered throughout the country, you would be hard-pressed to find a sizable onsen in the middle of most major cities, which means planning a day trip in advance in most cases.
Not if you are in Osaka though, as plans for a sprawling onsen theme park have already been drawn up. To be housed in the Osaka Bay Tower, the Azuchi–Momoyama period-inspired interior will span from the second floor to the fifth at over 177,915 square feet (16,500) square meters, and is set to open in February 26 next year.
Called the Sky Garden Onsen, the theme park is situated a stone’s throw away from Bentencho Station and will be the largest of its kind in the Kansai region. One of the attractions is a 35,583 square foot open-air garden on the roof of the building, which comes complete with a pond, waterfall, foot spa, and even a mini replica of Kyoto’s Fushimi Inari Shrine for you to enjoy.
▼ A wide variety of seasonal trees and flowers ensures
that the garden looks fantastic no matter the time of year.
▼ Taking a stroll here is a perfect way to wind down.
▼ Its natural hot springs are, without a doubt, the main highlights of the facility.
▼ Customers can choose from six types of large alkali spas…
▼ …and private baths that accommodate up to five people.
▼ Why not get a good soak and drink in the view of the garden at the same time?
▼ Treat yourself to special hot stone spas,
or venture indoors to take a gander at the rest of the premises.
▼ Walk down indoor streets dressed up in provided yukata. Adventurous
visitors can also rent costumes to look like ninja, samurai, or even a princess.
▼ Chill out at designated relaxation areas…
▼ …or indulge in some luxurious food.
Sky Garden Onsen’s prime location in the city of Osaka means that a good soak is never too far for residents or tourists. And although it is not as large as Beppu’s crazy Spamusement Park, it is shaping up to be a unique paradise that allows people to kick back and relax after a hard day’s work.
