The Rumiko Takahashi anime remake inspires a line of items for cooking, carrying, or just admiring.
The new Ranma 1/2 anime is a hit, finding fans among both newcomers to creator Rumiko Takahashi’s martial arts romantic comedy and veteran otaku who enjoyed the original TV series from the late ‘80s/early ‘90s. However, as is often the norm with modern anime series, the Ranma 1/2 remake takes breaks between its seasons. Thankfully, these haven’t been too long, with Seasons 1 and 2 airing in the fall of 2024 and 2025, respectively, and that pace is set to continue with Season 3 scheduled to start in October.
But if you need a dose of Ranma fun even sooner, there’s a new line of clever tableware and lifestyle goods releasing this month.
The motif for many of the designs comes from the in-anime Cat Cafe/Nekohanten, a Chinese restaurant run by the grandmother of character Shampoo, one of protagonist Ranma’s many unasked-for fiancés.
The lineup, offered by Japanese clothing and homewares brand Studio Clip, includes stoneware ceramic Cat Cafe ramen bowls and spoons, decorated with illustrations of several members of the cast.

While they’re functional, you could make the argument that these items are just too pretty to cook and eat with. Luckily, they all work great as decorative items too, and the two-tiered bamboo steamer could actually work quite well as a unique organizer for small items.
There are items specifically designed for storage and carrying, though, from lightweight eco shopping bags to embroidered cotton and satin totes. One of the eco bags even folds up to fit inside a female Ranma plushie, which can also be used as a bag strap charm.
Getting back to the drinkware, there’s a ceramic tea service as well as a glass tea-strainer mug.
The cleverest designs of all, though, are the insulated bag modeled after the Cat Cafe’s metallic carrier box for delivery orders…
…and the oven mitt shaped like P-chan, one of the series’ many cute animals who’s actually the transformed state of a cursed martial artist.
Out of the items shown here, the eco bag with plushie is the priciest, at 4,400 yen (US$28), with the rest mostly in the 2,000-3,000-yen range. The whole line is available as of September 18 through Studio Clip’s online store (here) and physical shops.
