As the warm weather has finally started to kick in, most of us are looking to get reacquainted with the great outdoors. But for many camping is a new experience and getting the right equipment can make or break their overall enjoyment. Sure you can buy a bulky trailer full of equipment but who want to use the time, money, and muscle power for all that.
Camping equipment brand Doppelganger Outdoor has released a series of lightweight chairs and tables ideally portable and durable for outdoor use. The pièce de résistance of this collection is the Ultra Light Micro Chair, more affectionately known as C1-54.
This baby has a specially treated aluminum covered frame containing duralumin, which I don’t know anything about, but sounds pretty hardcore. Even the cloth section that you park your butt on is made of high grade oxford polyester capable of holding heavy loads.
And yet all of this weighs 199g (7oz) which is about the weight of a small bottle of shampoo or sunscreen. As light as it is, it’s a heavy seller with sales having increased 8 times since the last financial quarter.
According to the makers; “The recent surge in outdoor equipment sales is because more and more women are beginning to get into camping. These first timers are more interested in easy-to-carry yet reliable equipment so they can get the most out of their experience.”
The C1-54 is certainly reliable as it’s capable of supporting up to 150kg safely, which makes me shutter at what kind of women Doppelganger Outdoor had in mind when they were designing it.
Pound for pound you can’t do much better than this little chair and as it’s makers are quick to point out you don’t have to be a camper to make use of it – just someone who appreciates a good sit.
