It’s fairly common knowledge that Japan is overrun with vending machines. If they ever gained sentience and decided to go on the offensive, the country would be pretty much screwed as far as we can tell. Fortunately, maniacal wizards don’t seem to be real, so we can keep them around to serve us drinks and snacks without having to worry about being attacked by vicious Coke machines.
Of course, there are tons of different vending machines in Japan, but the most popular must be the gachapon ones. The toy dispensing machines are fun for everyone with an addiction to collecting, from children to adults. The recent trend for gachapon machines seems to be dogs, but today we found an utterly bizarre–and adorable–take on the theme: “Inupan” or “Doggy Bread!”
Just as the name implies, the figures are basically dogs plus…bread. Or dogs on bread. Or, even, dogs in bread! For example, there are Chihuawaffles–chihuahuas wrapped in waffles–and Hampugers–pugs squished in hamburger buns. They’re basically the cutest things that you can get out of a coin-operated machine.
Check out the adorableness below!
▼Hampugers
▼Cream Shitzu (Cream cheese shitzus?)
▼Shiba cutlet sandwiches
▼Shiba cutlet booty sandwiches
▼Chocorgi corne
(“Corne” is the Spanish word for “kifli” and is used in Japanese to refer to the pastry.)
▼Put a coin in, twist the handle, and out comes a little container filled with pure cute!
▼Japan is the Land of Gachapon!
If you’re interested, you can get them for 200 yen (about US$2) each from the machines or you can buy a set of seven from Rakuten for 2,000 yen (about $20)! Yeah, the math doesn’t quite add up with that one, does it?
At least you save yourself the trouble of buying a hundred hampugers just to get one chocorgi corne!
Hehe, hampuger.
