Anyone who’s been to Japan knows that the convenience store is the prefect place to get snacks, pay your bills, buy adult material, and get into a fight. Wait, what?
That’s right, with the upcoming release of Yakuza 6 for the PlayStation4, you can turn your local Daily Yamazaki into the perfect place for an all out brawl. But unlike the couple that got arrested last year for assaulting a convenience store clerk, this time the person behind the virtual counter will reward you for disrupting the peace with a nice, cold beverage.
Created by Toshihiro Nagoshi, the Yakuza game series has become a strong seller in Japan for its blend of satisfying yakuza violence and detailed recreations of Japanese urban scenery, with close to eight million units sold worldwide to date. The newest edition will hit Japanese shelves sometime this fall, and overseas fans of previous editions for the game are hopeful for an eventual English-language release in addition to the Chinese version in the works.
Last week, a demo of the game was made available to those who had purchased the domestic-only re-release of the first Yakuza, titled Yakuza Kiwami, which includes the convenience store fight scene in all of its glory.
Besides the exciting gameplay, enthusiasts will be quick to note how good Kazuma Kiryu looks with new and improved graphics. Now all we need to know is how Beat Takeshi‘s character will be involved in it all!
