With so many products to choose from, this is one of the most personalised lucky bags on the market this year!
The Body Shop, a world-renowned skin care and cosmetics company owned by L’Oréal, has more than 2,000 stores in 61 countries. Here in Japan, customers are enticed by the company’s range of fragrant creams and soaps to such an extent that they’re able to create their own personalised “fukubukuro” lucky bags at the beginning of the New Year.
This year’s bags come in three different sizes: small, medium and large, which refer to the size of the products they contain. We stopped by to pick up the smallest option, priced at 3,500 yen (US$29.67).
Purchasing lucky bags can often be a gamble, as the contents sometimes differ from bag to bag. While it’s considered to be all part of the fun, sometimes it’s nice to know exactly what you’ll be getting in exchange for your yen, especially when it comes to something as personal as a favourite fragrance. At The Body Shop, customers can rest assured that they’ll be happy with what they get, seeing as they’ll be the ones choosing the actual products that go into the bag itself.
Customers purchasing a small bag will be able to choose one product from the three categories (shower gel, body butter, hand cream) below. Medium and large purchases, on the other hand, can be chosen from the first two categories.
▼ We received six items in our small-sized pack, including an exclusive red-and-black Body Shop tote bag.
▼ Rather than mix fragrances, we decided to stick to the refreshing scent of grapefruit throughout, with a tub of body butter…
▼ A 250-millilitre (8.5-ounce) bottle of shower gel…
▼ And a 30-millilitre tube of hand cream.
▼ We also received a “bath lily”…
▼ And a bottle of body lotion.
Considering the fact that the body butter and shower gel together usually retail for 3,780 yen, the Body Shop fukubukuro is packed full of value. We loved the fact that we could choose our own fragrances, and now that other stores like GAP are tapping into this concept of personalised lucky bags, we can’t wait to see what other options become available next year!
