This fall, the Justice League will team up with the most unlikely of allies: a team of Japanese villains known as Eagle Talon.
DC’s favorite super heroes are set to appear in different forms of media all over the world before their big movie drops late this year. Eagle Talon is a flash animation anime produced by DLE and created Ryo Ono aka FROGMAN.
As a low budget series, Ono serves as the writer, animator, director, and voice actor. Their team is made up of the Chancellor, Yoshida, Phillip, Doctor Leonardo, and Creepy Kid.
Their mission? To take over the world.
These villains’ somewhat bumbling plots of world domination are thwarted by the bully-like ‘hero’ of their world, Deluxe Fighter. You might think this would cause them to butt heads with the likes of the Justice League, but it sounds like they will find a common enemy in the Joker.
A translated version of the film’s synopsis teases some time travel and even some fun alternate anime versions of the Justice League:
“Joker has come to Japan to steal the Eagle Talon Society’s secret weapons in his continued scheme for pure chaos. However, the Justice League is on his trail, but there’s something off with Batman. Now, it’s up to Eagle Talon to go find out what’s wrong with Batman, and that means going back in time to Bruce Wayne’s most traumatic experience, the murder of his parents.”
The poster tagline translates into “Why are YOU going to Tokyo? The Justice League has come from Hollywood.”Eagle Talon itself has kind of a meta spin and even acknowledges how low budget the show appears. Part of the plot of the anime film breaks the fourth wall and actually talks about how expensive it is to get the stars of the Justice League. They must come together and defeat the Joker before they run out of money and break the budget.
This anime movie is set to drop into Japanese theaters just before the Warner Bros. Justice League film hits screens worldwide.
Fun fact: In order to fund this project, they held an auction to sell off the temporary use rights of some of the Eagle Talon monster characters. The auctions were held in May and June of this year with Yahoo! Auctions. Bidders could purchase the rights to use these lesser characters for up to five years.
