And yes, Zombie Santa will be there too.
With the holidays fast approaching, its easy to get caught up in all the gift buying, preparing for visits from relatives, and taking advantage of great deals on scorpions. But in doing so we lose sight of what this season is really about: zombies and dubstep.
That’s why the amusement park Nagashima Spa Land is holding the Nagashima Zombie Christmas Party on 23 and 24 December. As the name suggests, it’s a Christmas party… with zombies.
Actually, Nagashima Spa Land boasts zombies year round, but even the undead can’t help but get into the festive spirit. Prior to the actual party you can visit Nagashima Zombie Island and observe the reanimated corpses in their natural habitat and take photos with them as they wander around in search of brains.
However, this time the area is decorated with jaunty lights and Christmas trees. In addition, they will be joined by a very special guest named Zombie Santa, but the only thing he’s giving out this year is the stench of rotting flesh.
The Zombie Christmas Party proper is divided into three parts. First, there’s DJ Time featuring the talents of model/DJ Mikee.

After that, it’s time for the Zombie Dance Live in which all of the undead will gather on stage for a special dance routine… as they are often known to do… on Christmas.
Finally, Zombie Party Time is underway. This is when the whole event turns into a club atmosphere playing everything “from the newest dance music to established Christmas songs.” Considering the distance from one to the other, it seems we can expect a pretty eclectic mix of music.
▼ Zombie Party Time
Each party runs from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. because even zombies know enough to get home at a sensible time. The organizers say cosplay is welcome, and as far as I can tell this event has very little regard for adhering to conventional themes, so you can dress up as whatever you want. Plus if you’re one of the first 500 guests, you’ll get a free Santa hat!
So why not head down to Nagashima Zombie Island this Christmas? Because zombies have nothing to do with Christmas? Perhaps, but neither does “Jingle Bells” and yet you don’t hear anyone complaining about that.
