If you’re a 90s kid, chances are you spent hours of your life glued to the monochrome screen of Nintendo’s original 8-bit Game Boy handheld console (feel the nostalgia?). In those days, we were content guiding a tiny Mario around and striving to collect all 50 Pokémon. But little did we know the unforseen capabilities of the Game Boy. Last week, Twitter user Kinako uploaded a picture of herself using Twitter on a Game Boy screen. What sorcery is this??

As soon as Kinako uploaded it, the photo exploded in popularly and has now been shared over 10,000 times. But as you’ve probably guessed, the photo in question, sadly, turned out to be the result of some clever image manipulation. Kinako created the composite image using video editing software AviUtl. Even so, we have to give her props for the amazing detail she put into making the image; it really does look believable on a Game Boy screen.

Shortly after posting her original image, however, Kinako shared a message from a follower that sent a shiver down our spines.

“I got a tweet that read, ‘What’s a Game Boy?’ Now I feel depressed…”
