Who wouldn’t want to be a game show host? It’s a relatively easy gig, making money while making other people happy with fabulous cash and prizes. But with only a few shows to go around it can be a highly coveted job.

Perhaps that’s why some people decide to start their own game on the streets. However, without all the slick production value of a major studio backer you’re bound to look like some kind of wack-job. Sure enough, that’s what happened to one young man who’s now gotten the attention of Hokkaido law enforcement.

On 11 March at around 2:30pm, a junior high schoolgirl was walking along the street in Otofuke, Hokkaido. Out of nowhere, she heard a man’s voice call out to her. It was a young man in his 20s dressed in a grey suit and holding a cardboard box.

He said, “if you can guess what’s in the box I’ll give you a 3,000 yen QUO card.”A QUO Card is a pre-paid card that can be used at various shops and restaurants around Japan.

Netizens were fascinated by what was in the box, most seemed to think it was either a PS4 or an Xbox One. Some thought it might have been full of cockroaches, while others thought that was half right saying, “Oh, I saw this in an adult video one time. It worked out well for the guy if I recall.”

However, we may never know. Rather than go for what’s inside the box the young girl sensibly chose what was behind the doors of the Obihiro Police Station and filed a report. Authorities are now asking that anyone who sees a man looking like a creepy game show host please contact them as soon as possible. And for the love of god do not take up his offer to “come on down.”
