With Apple’s announcement of their new iPhone lineup the burning question on everyone’s lips is – but is it gonna fit in my pocket?! Download and print this handy to-scale model and find out!
During a press conference on Tuesday, Apple unveiled their new product and service line-up which included the iPhone 6 smartphone, iPhone 6 Plus phablet, the Apple Watch smartwatch, and their mobile payments system Apple Pay. The release of not one but two large-screened devices shows that the company is serious about competing with Android-based phones and phablets, particularly the Samsung Galaxy Note.
The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will have a 4.7 and 5.5 inch display respectively. Despite the larger screens, Apple have apparently designed it so that it can still be used one handed, so you won’t be needing to buy an extendable (but totally life-like) mega-finger any time soon. However, for fans who are used to the 4-inch iPhone that fits snugly into the hand, many of their first thoughts will be ‘but will it fit in my skinny jeans pocket?’
Just looking at pictures on a computer screen doesn’t really help to get a concrete idea of the real thing, and no doubt people will want to get a better feel for it before pre-orders kick off on Friday for a September 19 release date.
One writer over at Wired JP used comparison photos between the new devices and the iPhone 5S to create a simple but extremely helpful wire frame model so that you can see just how big those Retina HD LCD LED-backlit screens really are. Print it, cut it out, and place it in your palm to get a real handle on the actual size of these new models. And if it feels uncomfortable then you can use it as a workout to stretch your hand before your new device arrives – we know diehard Apple fans would rather suffer the discomfort for a while than move on from their favourite brand.

Both models will be available in Silver, Gold, and Space Gray. iPhone 6 will retail at $199 for 16GB, $299 for 64GB and $399 for 128GB. iPhone 6 Plus will retail at $299 for 16GB, $399 for 64GB and $499 for 128GB. Preorders begin on Friday September 12.
