With a public holiday coming up on Monday, it’s a three-day weekend here in Japan. As you might imagine, some of us—ahem—are having a little trouble applying our fidgety brains to the task of bringing you the latest Nippon news. There’s been a lot of interesting and important developments this week that we should cover, like the shuffling of Prime Minister Abe’s cabinet and two Nobel Prizes going to Japanese researchers andOH LOOK, “10 CATS” HAS A NEW VIDEO!!!1!

If you’re not familiar with the Japanese YouTube channel 10 Cats, prepare to have your socks well and truly knocked off with cuteness. The concept is simple: this YouTuber has 10 cute cats and she makes videos of them doing cute cat stuff. We’ve featured the channel before when the eponymous cats played with a big ball of ice, made lots of funny crunching noises and jumped around in a jungle of empty cardboard boxes.

This time, the 10 cats are served a fancy dinner with “salad” and decide to get dolled up in kimonos for the occasion.

The video starts with Lulu, Musashi, Osamu, Kojiro, Michelle, Mu, Taro, May, Maru, and Mi-ke gathering for the dinner line-up as usual.

▼Frankly, I don’t know how feeding 10 cats at once doesn’t turn into a complete bloodbath every night.

But tonight, there is a special side of “salad,” or cat grass rather, for them to enjoy!

▼Mmmm, fiber.

Then, about halfway through the video, it seems Maru is so moved by this excellent repast that she feels underdressed and changes into a kimono, complete with wig.

This starts a trend and pretty soon Michelle and May have joined her for tea and dessert in full kimono too.

▼”I say, absolutely smashing pudding! Wouldn’t you agree, ladies?”

Mi-ke also gets her kimono out, though she’s looking like it’s a bit past her bedtime.

And poor Lulu gave it a try but was feeling too self-conscious to come out of the wardrobe. But Lulu, you look charming!
