The world’s biggest virtual idol is returning to the U.S. on a new concert tour, and also making her Canadian performance debut.
You know how Disneyland makes sure there’s only one costumed performer dressed as Mickey Mouse roaming the park at any one time? Hatsune Miku’s managers seem to operate under a similar policy with the Vocaloid pop star. In March, she’s beginning a series of concerts in Japan which wraps up on April 10. After that, though, her schedule was free, so the computer-constructed vocalist will be embarking on a North American tour, including stops in four cities she’s never performed in before.
Hatsune Miku Expo 2016 North America kicks off in Seattle on April 23 at the WaMu Theater. From there it’s on to San Francisco for two shows on the 30th, down the coast to Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater on May 6, and over to the Bomb Factory in Dallas on May 14. Miku next plays the Sony Centre for the Preforming Arts in Toronto on May 20, and then hits New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom for two shows on May 28.
While Miku has previously appeared onstage in the City of Angels and the Big Apple, all of the other cities on the schedule will be getting visits for the first time from the aqua-tressed songstress, who has never held a concert in Canada before. And don’t distress if you don’t see your city on the list, because there’s one more Hatsune Miku Expo 2016 North America location yet to be revealed.
▼ Come on, San Dimas!
Seattle!!! San Fancisco!!! Los Angeles!! Dallas!!! Toronto!!! New York!!!! + ONE MORE CITY TO BE ANNOUNCED 😉✨💖💖💖

Of course, some people might wonder what the point is, since Miku doesn’t have a physical form (barring some seriously cool figures, of course). But unlike just watching a video of one of her songs, going to the Vocaloid’s concerts gives attendees a chance to see her in high-tech holographic form, plus feel the energy of being surrounded by thousands of other fans of this very specific class of music.
Tickets for Hatsune Miku Expo 2016 North America go on sale November 20.
