Can’t say we didn’t see it coming, but say it ain’t so! Poo-flavored curry restaurant Curry Shop Shimizu is ready to close up shop. Where will we go to get our crappy curry now?
We brought you the scoop about Curry Shop Shimizu back in August when it first opened its doors. And now, (not so) sadly, we are back bearing news that after just a few months of serving up steaming piles of food that looks and tastes like something most sane people would never even think of putting their faces near (served in dishes replicating squat-style toilets), the world’s first, and probably only, poo-flavored curry restaurant has announced it will be closing up shop for good this coming January 4.
But never fear! For while you may not be able to get the full-on feast for the senses, there are plans to continue the madness with an “internet shop”, in the form on an online video program. Restaurant owner and mastermind behind the crappy cuisine Ken Shimizu boasts 17 years in the film industry, according to his profile, but it will be interesting to see what sort of direction this program takes. See, Shimiken, as he is also called, is a prolific adult film actor, apparently having appeared in over 7,500 films and slept with around 8,000 women.
The shop isn’t closing, though, without leaving a mark; In its remaining couple of weeks, you can try some of the new items on the menu such as the extra-large order, which comes served in a real Japanese-style squatting toilet bowl and contains three times the amount of food as the previous large size.
▼ Now that’s a load of crap.

You can also order toppings of the world’s worst-smelling food, surströmming, the infamous Swedish pickled herring, or some hongeohoe, which is Korea’s equivalent made from skate fish. You know, just in case you wanted to have a contest with your friends to see who has the strongest stomach.
In addition to an online program, Shimizu hopes to earn enough money through crowdfunding to open up another temporary shop, or to hold other events to which he can spread the joys and smells of his fecal foods.
