Being the leader of the nation with the largest population in the world means a lot of attempts being made on your life. And that means an enormous bodyguard posse…
Xi Jinping is the president of the People’s Republic of China, but he also has a couple of other titles on his business card: the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and the Chairman of the Central Military Commission. As such, he lives his life with the very real possibility of being the target of assassination attempts every moment.
Though there is no official data on the number of attempts on his life, it is said that he is the person with the greatest number of attempts on his life in the world. That means he has a serious number of bodyguards protecting him, every single step he takes.
The video was reportedly taken in December 2014 when President Xi was visiting Macau Airport. It’s hard to tell exactly how many bodyguards are on the landing strip, as there are camera men and reporters also running through the scene, but there’s a startling number of men in black suits, all looking around like someone just yelled something unflattering about their mothers, but they’re not entirely sure from where.
Not only are there bodyguards surrounding the car, but four of them are right next to the car with their hands on the door.
Xi Jinping assumed the role of President of China in March 2013 and has been called the most powerful leader of China since Deng Xiaoping. In order to keep that sentence true, President Xi will continue to employ a literal army of defenders to keep him safe.
