Stop everything you’re doing because we have three very important words to say: cheesecake flavoured cornflakes.
Japan’s Cup Noodle maker Nissin is well-known for introducing Japan to the wonder of instant noodles back in 1958 with the country’s first-ever instant ramen noodle product, Chikin Ramen (Chicken Ramen). One of its subsidiaries, however, is in the business of marketing a different type of ready-made product: breakfast cereal. And with its Ciscorn BIG range of cornflakes, they’re continuing to reshape options on the Japanese breakfast landscape with a number of weird and wonderful cereal flavours.
▼ The company, which boasts more sales of cornflakes than any other brand in the country, has a regular lineup that includes plain, frosted and chocolate varieties.
Their latest product was developed in response to a customer survey that indicated consumers wanted to try a rich and aromatic variety that both adults and children could enjoy. The baked cheesecake cereal, which will be available at supermarkets nationwide from 1 February, aims to deliver just that, with the brand’s trademark large, crunchy cornflakes infused with a strong cheesecake flavour.
While this is definitely their most out-there flavour to date, Nissin Cisco has also released some impressive flavours in the past.
▼ In 2012, they created a peach yoghurt variety, and in 2011 and 2013, they released melon flavoured cornflakes.
▼ 2014 was the year of plain yoghurt…
▼ … and mango.
▼ And just last year, they released matcha (left) and pancake (right) varieties.
We can’t imagine what cheesecake-flavoured cornflakes could possibly be like, but one thing’s for certain; as soon as they’re released we’ll be there, spoon in hand, to give them a try!
