So, have you seen the movie Ted yet? If you have, I’m sure many of you will agree that it’s an absolutely hilarious movie (probably not profound or enlightening in any way, and you may even lose a couple of brain cells watching it, but yes, definitely hilarious)! Well, it appears the antics of the cute teddy bear with a bad mouth and a dirty mind has captured the hearts of movie goers in Japan, because as of last weekend, the movie is the top box office hit in Japan. But what does a middle-aged borderline delinquent teddy bear have to do with a hot spring bath?
It so happens that Ted’s Japanese Facebook site will be giving away 10 trips for two to a hot spring (onsen) hotel as part of a promotional campaign in appreciation of the movie’s enormous success in Japan. And the best part is that the winners will receive a life-size doll of Ted in addition to the trip!
According to the campaign website, the trip is supposed to be a reward for Ted for working so hard to promote the movie in Japan, and of course, Ted doesn’t want to go to an onsen all by himself, thus the free trips so Ted will have someone to keep him company, because you know how Ted hates to be lonely, right? Winners of the prize will be greeted by the life-size Ted doll upon their arrival at the onsen hotel and will get to take the doll back with them. Darn, that is sooo cute, where do they get these ideas?
Unfortunately for our readers outside Japan, you do have to live in the country to enter the give-away. Entrants can select one of 10 hot spring destinations they would like to visit, and they have to post a comment, preferably about their love for Ted, or maybe their favorite scene in the movie. They’ll be accepting entries until February 25, and entrants deemed to be the most “passionate” in their comments about the little bear that grew up will be selected as the winners.
Apparently, the prize only includes the stay at the onsen hotel and not the transportation, but a chance to soak and relax in a hot spring bath and get your very own Ted doll certainly sounds attractive to this writer. In fact, I might try entering the campaign myself! If you haven’t seen the movie yet, I hope you have the chance to do so because it’s bound to bring you some good laughs!
