I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! Especially for everyone’s favorite, Häagen-Dazs. Even in the middle of winter, we can find happiness by eating ice cream in a warm room. We were curious what Häagen-Dazs’ new, hard-to-pronounce flavor Forêt Noire tasted like, so we tried it ourselves. Prepare to be tantalized by the following enticing photographs.
- The new Forêt Noire flavor
The beautiful image on the cover of the white cup is a work of art in itself. The ice cream inside looks more like a piece of cake that would be sold at a high-end cake shop, with cherries garnishing the sides. In fact, it was the cherries that really sealed the deal for us. By the way, the price for one cup is 420 yen (US$4). Extravagant!
- Stylish heart-shaped marks add to the fun
The first thing you see when you open the lid is a cute swirl pattern of hearts drawn with milk on top of a rich chocolate sauce. Girls are sure to scream “cuuuute!” as soon as they see it. When you scoop out a spoonful, you can see the pink and light brown ice cream layers hiding underneath. This colored layering is also gorgeous. There is some kind of red sauce inside of the pink ice cream, too. What in the world is it?
- Cherries add a sweet and sour flavor within the rich chocolate
As soon as you take a bite, the chocolate ice cream begins to melt in your mouth. It’s so rich! The mild taste of the cherry ice cream complements the chocolate well. The mystery red sauce turns out to be a bittersweet cherry sauce. These three flavors blend in perfect harmony for a refined adult palate.
- Kirsch is the deciding factor
Embedded within the chocolate ice cream is chocolate sponge cake and real cherries flavored with Kirsch, a fruit brandy made from distilled sour cherries. So the ice cream doesn’t just spread out and melt in your mouth – you also have to chew parts of it. All of these different textures combine to enhance your dessert experience. All in all, we think that this flavor will be a hit with adult ladies who are looking for something a little more refined than typical ice cream flavors.
