This escalator has apparently had enough of being walked all over.
When we get on an escalator going up, we expect it to take us to the top. When we get on an escalator going down, we expect it to take us to the bottom. Changing directions midway through? Now that’s just not very nice!
Footage of the traitorous escalator comes from Ningbo in Zhejiang Province, China. More than 10 people were thrown to the floor in the incident, which happened on Thursday, February 18, and resulted in at least five people suffering (luckily) only minor injuries.
It’s not yet known what caused the escalator to suddenly stop and reverse like that, but it has currently been shut down while an investigation ensues.
Now we know to take the stairs from now on. At least they will not betray us!
