Two of our reporters try to tackle this 20-centimeter (8-inch) burger tower!
Shortly after opening up a new location in Yokohama on June 9, Hawaiian hamburger chain Teddy’s Bigger Burgers unveiled their “Giga Monster Burger”, combining five of the restaurant’s favorite menu items into one massive, 1.8 kilo (4 lb) mega-burger.
Despite only winning one of his last seven eating challenges, our reporter P.K. was eager to see if he could up his victory count by bringing along Ryou to help him chow down. Turns out that they were the first visitors at the Omotesando location to put in an order for this big, bad burger! Table service was remarkably speedy and in just 15 minutes they were eye to eye with this five-patty giant.
The pictures weren’t lying! The width and the height of the “Giga Monster Burger” didn’t disappoint. Of course, the real true test of its greatness would be its taste.
The two dug in and were immediately hit with the taste of a juicy hamburger patty soaked in BBQ sauce. The avocado and pineapple enhanced the flavor to create a winning combination creation! The only problem was that no matter how many mouthfuls they took, there was still so. Much. Meat. Left.
▼ P.K.’s expression as he contemplates throwing in the towel again…
With each patty weighing 220 grams (half a pound), this Classic, Western, Avocado, Hawaiian, C.C. Rider burger combo isn’t for the faint of heart. Egged on by P.K., Ryou was able to pull through at the end and finish off the last of the meat.
▼ After all, it would be a shame to let all of this deliciousness go to waste!
As Ryou scraped the last bit of burger off his plate, both of them conceded that it would be a little rough for two people to finish without overdoing it, but that it was the perfect size for three hungry guys.
▼P.K. takes all the credit for Ryou’s hard work
Priced at 6,800 yen (US$64), it’s cheaper than ordering all five burgers separately, and the taste remained excellent until the very last bite, despite how stuffed P.K. and Ryou were.
