The prospect has Japanese netizens, quite surprisingly, very excited.
We’ve already seen some of the effects that the results of the recent U.S. election have had. Manga artists who expected a Hillary victor have had to throw away hard work, and the sales of rubber Trump masks in Japan have skyrocketed.
But according to the Japanese newspaper Tokyo Sports, there might be another unexpected result of Donald Trump becoming the next U.S. president: his daughter, Ivanka Trump, may become the ambassador to Japan.
▼ She certainly fits the role of what many Japanese
people consider to be the “stereotypical foreigner.”
Ivanka Trump The US Ambassador to Japan?

Actually, I had paid attention to her rather than President Trump.
I'll look forward to it! pic.twitter.com/YSROH2X6BA
Ivanka has no political experience to speak of – similar to her father, she spent most of her life working in business and, later, modeling.
But to be fair, the past several ambassadors to Japan haven’t had huge political resumes either. John Roos, the former ambassador, held some small positions in local government, but was mostly known for being a technology lawyer. Caroline Kennedy, the current ambassador, certainly comes from a political family, but she has not held office herself, making her career as an attorney, writer, and editor.
Ivanka’s appointment hasn’t been confirmed by any official sources yet, but that hasn’t stopped Japanese netizens from chiming in with their thoughts:
“If this is true I take back all the bad things I said about Trump becoming president.”
“There’s no way this is true… it’s too good to be true.”
“Well I hope she does a good job.”
“Oh my god when is she coming? I want to go say hi!”
“She’ll make Japan great again!”
If it does turn out to be true, will Ivanka end up becoming moe-ified like the Crimean attorney general? Or will she end up causing angry comments online like other ambassadors? Only time will tell.
