Gran Toda’s “Fat Purchasing Campaign” is certainly one of the best incentives to finally get into shape.
Gran Toda is a new exercise and diet-themed sharehouse in Toda, Saitama Prefecture. To commemorate its grand opening in April, managing company Oakhouse, Ltd. is offering a series of on-site open houses and fitness trials, along with a truly impressive “Change your style, Change your Body~Oakhouse Fat Purchasing Campaign” in which tenants’ weight loss can be exchanged for points to deduct from their monthly rent. In fact, the official press release states that residents who drop two kilograms (4.4 pounds) are entitled to receive a 10,000-yen (US$91) discount. An additional bonus is that anyone who moves in by the end of June will receive one month rent-free.
Not unlike other sharehouses, each of Gran Toda’s 36 rooms is equipped with a private bath, toilet, storage spaces, and veranda, along with shared dining areas, a sleek coffee bar, library, and state-of-the-art fitness room. What truly sets Gran Toda apart from other residences is the care and detail that went into cultivating an environment which supports its overall mantra of “Work Smart, Play Hard, Stay Healthy,” a concept coined by overseer Yuzo Hoshino, who studied muscle physiology at the University of Tokyo. Check out the video clip below for some scenes of how he and Gran Toda envision its residents maintaining healthy lifestyles while also having a blast:
Of particular note is that the sharehouse offers intensive group training sessions, personal training, yoga, and cooking events to its residents. The equipment and suspension training found in the gym were even developed by former US Navy SEAL Randy Hetrick, perhaps best known as the founder and CEO of TRX.
The free open house tours are being held on all Sundays in June (3, 10, 17, and 24) from noon to 1 pm, followed by a 40-minute exercise trial. Participants should come dressed in comfortable workout clothes and ready to engage with their future neighbors!
