A day so nice they made it twice.

It’s beginning to look a lot like One Piece Day, everywhere you go. But it’s at Tokyo Big Sight to see the pirates that will be arriving aaaaaashore…

Sorry, I just can’t help getting caught up in the spirit of One Piece Day and start singing One Piece carols day and night. Yes, it’s that time of year again when Tokyo Big Sight becomes the center of all things One Piece, from manga and anime to video games and figures and everything in between. And as always, there’s just so much stuff that the day has to span two full days on 22 and 23 August.

The doors will open on 22 August, where fans can check out the latest in One Piece merchandise, along with some limited edition goods, as well as rare items and artwork from the franchise’s various productions. The day will come to a close with an Opening Day Panel featuring “We Are!” singer Hiroshi Kitadani, followed by a countdown of the first 70 of the World Top 100 character popularity poll.

The next day has a packed schedule of events such as panels with the musicians and voice actors behind One Piece and special announcements about the future of the series’ many iterations and adaptations, especially the trading card game. The top 30 of the World Top 100 will also be counted down, and the 8th annual One Piece Knowledge King finals will be held to crown the most knowledgeable fan around.

And of course, the highlight of any One Piece Day event is always the musical performances. This year, attendees will be treated to performances by Aina The End, who sings the current opening theme “Luminous,” and 36km/h, who made the ending theme “Future.”

And for those not in the Tokyo area, One Piece Day will also once again be livestreamed worldwide via the franchise’s official English YouTube channel, with English-speaking hosts and interviewers. It’s also possible to take part in the fun without being present at Tokyo Big Sight. For example, although voting has ended for the World Top 100, you can still go on the One Piece Base app and make your predictions for the top 30 characters. Correct predictions will be rewarded with special digital goodies on the app.

So, be sure to head on down, either virtually or in person, and join in the annual celebration of One Piece. I already have my One Piece Day decorations all set up.
