You guys, it’s May, so that means you can finally go see the beautiful wisteria tunnel that we told you about last October! If you find yourself anywhere near northern Kyushu or have time for a weekend getaway, head to Fukuoka Prefecture’s Kitakyushu City. If you think we’re exaggerating or doctoring the pictures to make them more beautiful (we’re not), at least trust the opinion of the Japanese Twitter users gushing over the wisteria’s beauty!
▼ Don’t you wish you were here?
Since it’s been half a year since we last discussed Kitakyushu’s majestic wisteria, let us remind you of the key details. An hour drive north-east of Fukuoka City, down some winding roads and over some lush green hills, you’ll find the hidden gem of Kawauchi Wisteria Gardens.
The main attraction of the park is the 220 meter (240 yard) long wisteria tunnel consisting of two variations of wisteria (which are called fuji in Japanese). However, the park is also full of other wisteria trees that intertwine to make a majestic roof and there are plenty of other flowers as well.
▼ Really, the tunnel is only part of the magic.
▼ It’s a perfect spot for a romantic date, a day out with the girls (or guys) or a picnic with the family.
If you’re thinking, “Yeah, yeah, flowers, whatever,” take another look at the pictures and imagine yourself standing among the multicolored, beautiful blossoms, breathing in air full of their lush fragrance. Nice, right (don’t mind the bees, they’re after the pollen, not you)?
▼ This could be you!
▼ Kawauchi is often rated very highly on lists of the most beautiful spots in Japan and in the world!

Some Japanese commenters are dying to go:
“What is this beauty?!”
“I didn’t know that wisteria were this beautiful!”
“Wow! I really want to go!”
Then there were those who have already visited this year:
“I can’t wait to go again next year too!”
“It was such a wonderful place!”
“It was such a beautiful scene and the fragrance was wonderful.”
“This place is amazing!”
▼ The wisteria also look nice against the background greenery!
Speaking from personal experience, it may sound like a hassle to get there, but it really is worth the trouble. You’ll be completely mesmerized by the flowers, the smells, and the atmosphere. The park is open until the end of May, so, if you can, get out there and look at some beautiful flowers!
