At this year’s Jump Festa, which celebrates all things under the Shonen Jump manga umbrella, a truly remarkable piece will be exhibited: a Millennium Puzzle worth its weight in gold…because it is gold.

Attendees to the convention will bear witness to a replica of the Millennium Puzzle from the Yu-Gi-Oh! series. However, unlike other replicas this prism is made of solid gold, and was made to hype up the upcoming Yu-Gi-Oh! Dark Side of Dimensions film.

“[Jump Festa 2016 News] At Makuhari Messe on 19 and 20 December, to commemorate the release of the upcoming Yu-Gi-Oh! movie, a pure gold Millennium Puzzle made by Chugai Mining will be exhibited.
Please visit! (Not for sale / Estimated value: 25,000,000 yen)”

Unfortunately, as we are clearly aware that this was crafted by Chugai Mining, the likelihood of it possessing the wearer with the spirit of an ancient Egyptian Pharaoh who is well-versed in collectible trading card games is about 0.000000058 percent (never say “never”).

Despite that minor setback, Yu-Gi-Oh! fans were both thrilled and intrigued by the announcement.

“Exhibition? Can’t sell or buy?!”
“Wow that takes me back. Shadow games were my favorite.”
“That price is too crazy.”
“I wonder how much that weighs.”
“I wonder if it’s actually a working puzzle.”
“If they made a brass Millennium Puzzle for around 8,000 yen I’d totally buy it.”
“I wonder how many people know why the price is 25,000,000 yen.”

The answer to that last pondering might even be hard for some fans to notice at first. In the Japanese number system 10,000 is a base unit called “man.” Therefore the price in Japanese would be 2,500 man. The number 2,500 has also been the ATK value for each protagonist’s signature card throughout the series.

If you want to catch a glimpse of the golden puzzle, just stop by Jump Festa ’16 this December. Unfortunately, it’s not for sale but if you happen to have another pure gold Millennium Item and a decent deck, they might be obliged to play you for it.
