You can preregister for the game now!
Fans of the story of wandering swordsman Himura Kenshin from the series Rurouni Kenshin – also known in English as Samurai X – were recently treated to a spinoff miniseries and gorgeous sumi-e prints of some of the series’ main characters. Now, Kenshin fans will be happy to know that the excitement continues, as they can follow their hero on a new quest in a soon-to-be-released smartphone game, called Rurouni Kenshin – Kengekikenran. The game will be launched in spring of this year, around the same time that the manga series’ new Hokkaido Arc is set to released.
There have been five Rurouni Kenshin video games released in the past for PlayStation consoles, but this will be the first mobile-related game for the series. No details have been confirmed as of yet, other than it will fall under the genre of “samurai drama action battle.” Even without any details, fans are still voicing their excitement at the upcoming release:
“I’m so happy they’re making a Kenshin game!”
“What about Misao? Will Misao be in it too?”
“I soooo can’t wait for this!”
“Gah! I’m working on so many games right now I won’t have enough time for Kenshin!”
Basic play will be available for free, with additional fees for special items. While no specific date has been set yet, online preregistration for the game is available now through the official site (Japanese only), for both iOS and Android.
