Pudgy Pokémon Trainer and his cuddly pal casually pull off mind-blowing feats of strength in new Pokémon Sun and Moon episode.
Since the start of the Sun and Moon arc of the Pokémon anime TV series, fans have been talking about how the franchise’s human star looks pudgier than ever. All that extra flab even seems to have affected his physical fitness, as he’s been spotted struggling to lift items he’d been shown as able to throw great distances with ease prior Sun and Moon’s beginning.
But maybe we’ve all been worrying too much about Ash. Take a look at this Sun and Moon clip in which Ash (or Satoshi, as he’s called in Japan), nonchalantly picks up the Psychic-type Pokémon Cosmoem.

That might not seem like such an impressive feat, but a quick glance at the profile for Cosmoem on the Pokémon official website lists its weight at 999.9 kilograms, or 2,204.4 pounds on the official English page!

And it’s not like this is the only sequence in which Ash can be seen holding Cosmoem in his hand, casually carrying a Pocket Monster that weighs as much as a 1991 Mazda Miata.

Oh, and if you’re impressed that Ash can pick it up with ease, you’ll be blown away to learn that Pikachu can too!
▼ Wait, is he shaking Cosmoem out of curiosity, or using it like a kettlebell to work on his biceps while he waits for Ash to finish talking?

▼ “You gonna be much longer?” Pikachu must be asking. “Cause if you are, I’m gonna go do some squats with this and blast my quads. Pika.”
