The Senran Kagura anime/video game franchise has a new restaurant, but the menu seems to be of only secondary interest.
It’s been a busy week for the Senran Kagura multimedia franchise. Within the first few days of the month, it announced that a new season of the Senran Kagura TV anime is on the way, and also gave details about its next video game installment, a virtual pinball title dubbed Peach Ball. And then there was the opening, on August 3, of a special Senran Kagura restaurant in Tokyo’s Akihabara neighborhood.

If you’re wondering how the franchise can be involved in such diverse projects, it’s because each venture is connected to Senran Kagura’s unwavering core concept: breasts. See, whether the series’ cast of athletic young ladies is fighting as modern-day ninja, competing in elaborate team-based water gun battles, or trying to outdo each other in cooking contests (all plots of previous Senran Kagura games), they’re always doing so with prodigious pectoral protrusions. So on August 3, the Senran Kagura-themed Nyuyaro Ramen opened its doors, serving up bowls of ramen with the meaty toppings piled into a pair of mammary-like mounds accented with nipple-like eggs.

A temporary rebranding of the Akihabara branch of pre-existing popular ramen chain Yaro Ramen (the additional “nyu” being Japanese for “breasts”), diners at Nyuyaro Ramen can receive postcards with Senran Kagura character art. But the real draw on opening day wasn’t suggestive soup with noodles or alluring anime art, but the presence of Airi Shimizu behind the counter.
https://twitter.com/karyujinsei/status/1025411138090033153▼ Shimizu delivers a video message thanking customers for coming to the restaurant before…shaking with gratitude.
https://twitter.com/airishimizu/status/1025177238486933505As you may have guessed, Shimizu isn’t ordinarily a waitress, but a gravure model. So while the uniform the 25-year-old Osaka native is wearing above is rather revealing by usual restaurant standards, it’s actually pretty conservative in comparison to some of her other work outfits.

And finally, rounding out the special waitressing trio was model Haku Inko.

▼ Shimizu, expressing coy surprise at the popularity of her first thank-you video, also shared an outdoor version.
https://twitter.com/airishimizu/status/1026832562352574464Nyuyaro Ramen will be in operation until August 19, when it reverts back to plain old (but still delicious) Yaro Ramen. Unfortunately for those who’ve found themselves craving ramen despite not usually being noodle fans, however, Shimizu, Sakurai, and Inko wrapped up their waitressing stints on August 5.
