It’s almost that time again! The Fall 2013 anime season is absolutely jam-packed with something for every kind of fan. There’s no way you can watch all of these though, so have a skim through this list (put together by Gigazine and translated by yours truly) to pick out the ones you’ll be following.
Read on for the first 20 series that will be hitting screens next week.
◆Super Seisyun Brothers
Starts September 13

The Shinmoto siblings are good-looking, but a bit narcissistic. The Saitou siblings are good-looking, but a bit mysterious. This “super ordinary adolescent comedy anime” follows the daily life of the four friends as they go through the springtime of their youth.
◆DIABOLIK LOVERS
Starts September 16

Komori Yui is in her second year of high school when she suddenly transfers schools and ends up living with the six Sakamaki brothers. Each brother has his own personality, but their common trait is that they’re all super sadistic! Not only that, but there’s troubling rumours of vampires around the school… How will the naturally bright and cheerful Yui survive living with these six dark brothers?!
◆Saikyou Ginga Ultimate Zero: Battle Spirits
Starts September 22

This is the 6th season of the anime based on the trading card game ‘Battle Spirits’. Expect all-new characters, cards, and storylines in the all-new season!
◆Oshiri Kajiri Mushi Season 2
Starts September 30

The lively “biting bugs” who live in downtown Osaka participate in all the local events from festivals to rubbish collecting – but sometimes they’re a little enthusiastic, leading to all kinds of trouble and hijinks.
This is the second season of the 5-minute-per-episode comedy about bugs that bite people’s bums!
◆Miss Monochrome
Starts October 1

“Miss Monochrome” originated as a character for seiyuu Horie Yui and debuted in March 2012 as a 3-D virtual singer at her concert “Horie Yui wo Meguru Bouken III ~Secret Mission Tour~”. She quickly gained popularity, appearing on all kinds of merchandise, and now has her very own anime! Miss Monochrome dislikes colour, and wants to paint the world in monochrome shades.
◆Gaist Crusher
Starts October 2

In the year 2047 Gaimetal, a metal ore containing high amounts of pure energy, was discovered 50,000 metres under the earth’s crust. Mining began all over the world, but in 2055, metallic lifeforms of Gaimetal emerged and began attacking humanity. The world created the Gaist Crusher Garrison alliance in response to fight the Gaist. The show follows the characters in their battles against the Gaist in the year 2064.
◆Kyokai no Kanata
Starts October 2

One day after school, Akihito Kanbara encounters a girl who looks like she’s about the jump off the roof of a building. The girl, Mirai Kuriyama, is the last in a line of beings who have a cursed blood, unique even among the spirit world. The meeting between this girl and Akihito, who is himself half demon, will change the world…
◆Kyousogiga
Starts October 2

It’s Kyoto, and yet it’s not Kyoto: this is “Mirror Kyoto”. After wandering into this mirror world, Koto enjoys her chaotic daily life with all its ups and downs. But little does she know that a plan is being set in motion… In this town, where demons and humans mix, the festivities are about to begin.
This started out as a web series, and is now getting a TV anime adaptation! The many mysteries that were left will soon become clear.
◆Nagi no Asukara
Starts October 3

This story takes place in a world where people live in the sea as well as on land. It follows friends Hikari Sakishima and Manaka Mukaido who start attending a school on the land after the school in their underwater town is closed down.
◆IS: Infinite Stratos 2
Starts October 3

After the creation of the Infinite Stratos armed powered exoskeleton which, can only be operated by females, society has come to be dominated by women. For some unknown reason, Orimura Ichika is the only male known to be able to operate an IS. He entered the IS training school to become a pilot, and began his new life surrounded by so many girls of different nationalities and personalities!
◆Freezing Vibration
Starts October 4

Earth has been attacked by a mysterious enemy, the Nova. The female Pandoras and their male partners, the Limiters, fight against them with special powers. Kazuya Aoi is a Limiter enrolled at the West Genetics Academy where he meets Satellizer el Bridget, a cold-natured Pandora with a fear of being touched.
This is the second season of Freezing, which was broadcast in 2011. The show contains some nudity and violence, and is for mature viewers only.
◆Log Horizon
Starts October 5

Exactly 30,000 players of the online game “Elder Tale” suddenly find themselves trapped in the sword-and-sorcery world of the game. Shiroe, his old friend Naotsugu, and beautiful assassin, Akatsuki, establish a guild, and attempt to survive in a world where fantasy has become reality.
◆Hajime no Ippo: Rising
Starts October 5

This continues the tale of bullied kid Makunouchi Ippo who meets pro boxer Takamura Mamoru and enrolls in the Kamogawa boxing gym, aiming for the top of the boxing world. Season one aired between 2000 and 2002, and saw Ippo becoming Japan’s Featherweight champion. In season two, which aired in 2009, we saw him fighting in the world championships. Where will Ippo go next?!
◆Kuroko no Basket Season 2
Starts October 5

Teiko Middle School’s basketball club was once host to the “miracle generation”, five one-in-a-generation players who took the team to victory. But there was a sixth member, Tetsuya Kuroko. As easily ignored as a shadow, he’s actually pretty bad at basketball, and yet his plainness means he can pass the ball around without anyone noticing. When basketball prodigy Taiga Kagami returns from America, he and Kuroko team up to defeat the “miracle generation” who have moved on to play at other schools.
◆ Voice Actor Force Voicetorm 7
Starts October 5

At Soprano Cafe, tucked away in one of Akihabara’s corners, seven individuals meet to protect the peace! They will use their miracle voices as weapons to fight against evil as the Voice Actor Force Voicetorm 7!!
Rather than an anime, this will be a “motion comic”, using the images from the original manga with added effects for the screen. And of course there will be plenty of big-names from the voice acting world, especially as the voice talent management company 81 Produce is involved.
◆Tesagure! Bukatsu-mono
Starts October 5

What would an anime season be without a show following high school girls and their club activities? Despite not really knowing what their club will do, the girls have been fortunate enough to get the use of a great club room… we assume that hijinks will follow. This will be a CG anime, animated using the freeware program MikuMikuDance.
◆Ace of Diamond
Starts October 6

If basketball isn’t really your thing, here’s another sporty offering. The story follows Eijun Sawamura, a pitcher who joins an elite school with a brilliant catcher named Kazuya Miyuki. Together with the rest of the team, they strive for Japan’s famous Koushien championships through hard work and determination.
◆Phi Brain: Puzzle of God season 3
Starts October 6

Protagonist, Kaito Daimon, is a “demon” at solving puzzles. As a Solver, he travels the world solving puzzles created by the mysterious Puzzle of God. This season promises new antagonists, and even meaner puzzles! Will Kaito be able to solve them this time?
◆Wanna Be the Strongest in the World!
Starts October 6

Hagiwara Sakura is the lead vocalist of popular idol group Sweet. Due to bizarre circumstances, she ends up competing in female pro-wrestling matches! Expect large chests, few clothes, and many compromising positions.
◆Yozakura Quartet: Hana no Uta
Starts October 6

There is a town that exists between our world and another, where weird things happen on a regular basis. Four unique teenagers with special powers form the Hiizumi Life Counseling Office, and work to resolve these strange happenings. This is the third time the original manga has been animated, after the first TV season and an OVA – the cast will be the same as season one, and the director and studio also produced the OVA, so there should be plenty of continuity.
