Hey One Piece fans! Have you ever dreamed of being able to eat some Devil Fruit and getting superhuman powers like Monkey D. Luffy?
Well, 7-Eleven still can’t do that, but they’re giving you the next best thing by releasing limited edition snack bread which replicates the Gum-Gum Fruit of the hit manga and anime series.
The snack is fittingly based on Japan’s famous sugary buns called meron-pan (melon bread). Only to give it that One Piece touch, they made the surface purple with the distinctive wavy swirl pattern. The inside has blueberry jam and whipped cream. The creators hoped this would give it a fruity texture so you can imagine you’re really eating Gum-Gum Fruit.
To make this limited release even more limited, the packages have one of six different stickers with the image of a character from the series; Luffy, Chopper, Trafalgar Law, Donquixote Doflamingo, Portgas D. Ace and Smoker. The Gum-Gum Fruit snacks started to sell on 1 November for 150 yen (US$1.50) each.
In addition, every 700 yen ($7.20) you spend at 7-Eleven will allow you to participate in a drawing which includes prizes such as a Trafalgar Law figure or One Piece towel.
So head out now and grab a Devil Fruit while they last, and remember not to go swimming afterward… you might get a cramp.
