You normally wouldn’t expect a porn expo to be the scene of dramatic political and historical protests, but that seems to be what happened over the weekend at the Dalian International Adult Expo in China. Japanese AV actress Anju Kitagawa was greeted by flying eggs and plastic bottles, supposedly in protest of Japanese World War II crimes.
As she was being introduced, Kitazawa just missed being hit by an egg that exploded at her feet. She and the emcees gamely tried to carry on, but after a few more eggs and some empty bottles were lobbed her way, she promptly exited stage right, as the protesters called, “Get out of China!”
A witness later talked about the incident online. “The deep wounds caused by the humiliation of the Japanese occupation in Dalian have not healed. Plus, the recent issue of sexual violence has added to people’s anger,” he said, referring to Japan’s recent trend towards historical revisionism when it comes to their invasion of the Asian mainland during World War II and use of so-called “comfort women.”
Prior to the expo, there was a protest lodged with the organizers, but the event went on with support of the city government.
Here’s the video of the whole thing, if watching pretty girls dodge flying eggs is your thing.
