Man’s interest in anime comes and goes, but his fascination with breasts is eternal.
As popular as anime is, very few franchises remain in the forefront of Japanese fans’ minds for very long. Almost every new series is shown on free TV, with Blu-rays and DVDs generally being released while new episodes are still airing. Because of that, it’s extremely easy for interested individuals to minimize their viewing backlogs, and once they’re done with all the content a series has to offer so far, it’s on to the next season’s batch of new shows.
So while Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? (also known by its far less unwieldy nickname Danmachi) caused a pretty big stir during its initial television run, it’s largely dropped out of conversation since its last episode was broadcast in June of 2015. But while interest in animation can be transient and temporal, there’s one field in which man’s fancy isn’t so fickle: his love of boobs.
And that’s where Jun Amaki comes in.
The 20-year-old Amaki belongs to the gurabia class of Japanese models, who specialize in sexy yet non-pornographic photos. Amaki is known by her fans as the gurabia with “a miraculous 2-D body,” which at first seems like curious misnomer, given that “flat” is the last word many would think of in describing her physique.

However, the “2-D” is actually a reference to the similarity in build between Amaki and the exaggerated proportions of anime and video game characters. It’s a comparison Amaki seems more than happy to court by dressing up as Danmachi’s breakout character Hestia, well-known for the ostensibly boob-lifting, international-friendship-promoting string that’s the centerpiece of her unique outfit.

Not surprisingly, the Japanese Internet was quick to react, with comments including:
“Truly wonderful.”
“The world is full of dreams.”
“Overflowing.”
“Thank you!”
Then there’s my Japanese coworker, who commented “Man, I wish I could be that string!” Unfortunately, it looks like someone already beat him to that goal.
