Chilling-looking Pokémon Sun and Moon character sings heartwarming lyrics.

As part of the buildup to the release of next month’s Pokémon Sun and Moon video games, the Pokémon Company has been feeding fans a steady stream of preview videos. Back in midsummer, we got our first peek at Mimikyu, a Ghost/Fairy-Type Pokémon with more than a passing resemblance to franchise mascot Pikachu.

Reactions were divided over whether Mimikyu was cute or scary, but the Pokémon Company has just released something that makes it a lot more loveable: an official character song, sung by the ghostly looking Pocket Monster itself!

The lyrics translate as:

Yo yo! Please listen!
This is Mimikyu’s rap!

I’m not Pikachu. I’m Mimikyu.
The lonely Mimikyu

I’m a little, a little, scared of the sun.
I like places that are pitch black.

I want to be friends with everyone
So I’m mimicking Pikachu.

I look good in this outfit, don’t I?
I made it myself. That’s amazing, isn’t it?

Don’t try to take it off me. No way!
If you look inside, you’ll probably be cursed.

The video ends with an on-screen message asking us all to “Please be nice to Minikyu,” and you can show the character some extra love starting October 25, when a series of Mimikyu stamps will be released for the popular Snow smartphone camera app.

Also, to help Mimikyu make as many friends as possible, the Pokémon Company has made the character the star of its Halloween-themed website.

The Pokémon Company will also be posting photos of fan art or other creative endeavors shared on social media with the hashtag #ミミッキュのお友達 (Mimikyu no tomodachi/Mimikyu’s friends) here. So if you’d like to make a new Poké-pal, grab your camera and start snapping.
