Ever dreamed of having a Doraemon Anywhere Door?
If you’re a fan of Japanese animation you will be well aware of Doraemon, the robot cat. And if you’re a fan of Doraemon then you’ve probably dreamt of using Doraemon’s Anywhere (Dokodemo) Door. Well, dreams are now becoming a reality with the new virtual reality Doraemon Anywhere Door currently being showcased in Japan.
If you are not in Japan and don’t have an Anywhere Door of your own to get here (although that would probably defeat the purpose of coming to Japan for a VR simulation of the gadget in the first place), you can check out the promotion video below.
For those in Japan who want to experience the VR Anywhere Door should head to the 3rd floor (Area 12) of Tokyo Solamachi between 20 February to 14 April. You can make a reservation for the 10-minute virtual experience here via the official website.
▼ Here’s another video giving us a sense of the virtual Doraemon experience.
The original testers of the virtual Doraemon Anywhere Door appear to have loved the experience. The VR headset really does seem to offer an amazing feeling of opening doors to locales such as Antarctica to the top of a speeding train. The creators of the VR Doraemon Anywhere Door, “VR ZONE Project I Can”, claim to be the “world’s first VR entertainment research center, aiming to shape dreams into reality through VR technology”.
The launch of the virtual reality Anywhere Door experience is coinciding with the upcoming Doraemon the Movie 2017: Nobita’s Great Adventure in the Antarctic Kachi Kochi, which is set to be released on 4 March.

Doraemon has been on our small screens, our big screens, made into cuddly toys, traditional Japanese sweets, and even Star Wars figurines, and now finally we can experience what it’s like to be in the world of the robot cat!
