Music always sounds best coming out of biceps.
Muscly pillows have been a thing in Japan for a while, with everything from cushions with six-pack abs to “handsome macho gorillas” to snuggle with in bed.
But what about when you want to feel safe and secure by being wrapped in fake-muscly arms when you’re on the go? You don’t want to look like some weirdo, dragging around a headless body-pillow with you while you’re out and about.
Well thankfully one Japanese company Otome Yusha (“Hero of Maidens”) has come up with an answer: “Boyfriend Hug Speakers.”
▼ This video shows off how to use the speakers, which are of course
Bluetooth compatible, just like any good man.
The speakers are literally called “Hero of Maiden Hugging Speakers,” and they’re being given away as a promotion for the company’s recent mobile game release: Hero of Maidens. It’s an RPG aimed at women players where you can play as a number of beautiful men, “saving the world through love.”
▼ And what better way to play than by being wrapped in the arms of the game’s main hero?
▼ It’s the perfect accessory for relaxing at cafes…
▼ …enjoying a cup of coffee…
▼ …and it even acts as the perfect date. This man will never stand you up!
Here’s how Japanese netizens reacted to this strong set of speakers:
“Is today some sort of new April Fool’s Day?”
“Uh, where’s the joke? I legit want this.”
“Dang, those are some impressive arms!”
“If only the speakers were flesh-colored too, it’d be perfect.”
“I think if I were to wear those outside, I’d be questioned by police.”
If you’re not scared of the police or opinions of others and want a chance to win the speakers for yourself, there are two ways to enter: give Otome Yusha a follow on Twitter, and/or tweet out a link to their website with the hashtags #オトメ勇者 and #抱きしめスピーカープレゼント (#OtomeYusha and #HugSpeakersPresent). There’s only one available and it ends on August 9, so be quick!
In the meantime, if you need a more down-to-Earth pair of speakers to keep you company, feel free to make your own using some use toilet paper rolls. They may not be as hunky, but they get the job done!
