Lest we forget 1936: The year fake Mickey Mouse attacked Japan

Japan may have forgiven the rip-off Disney star, but they have not forgotten what he did 80 years ago on that blood soaked Pacific island beach.

Four Western gestures that are difficult for Japanese people to understand

Earlier this week, a Twitter user turned to the masses in the hope of learning the meanings behind four common gestures she had often seen in Western cartoons. While many, if not all, of these may be instantly recognizable to our readers, in Japan they are seldom seen and for that reason look understandably odd.

We’ve already examined some Japanese hand gestures; now let’s see how the other half lives as Japanese Twitter users try to unravel the meanings behind licking our fingers and touching someone or “crab-like movement and bending fingers“.

What’s up doc? Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Lola Bunny in human form are too hot to ignore!

Walt Disney cartoons were one of my favorite things to watch on TV when I was a kid. But giving the ever-popular Disney animated series a good run for its money was the Looney Tunes series by Warner Bros. In fact, if I really had to choose one out of the two, I would have leaned towards Looney Tunes, largely because of my childhood crush, the witty and crafty Bugs Bunny.

As I grew up, I became more interested in Japanese anime, and gradually drifted away from Bugs Bunny and the Looney Tunes gang, but my oh my, I think I’m falling head over heels for Bugs again after seeing Canada-based artist Sakimichan’s series of Looney Tunes illustrations. See Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Lola Bunny in their humanized forms after the jump!

Mickey and friends in human form are more charming than we had imagined! 【Pics】

Disney and their ever-expanding lineup of charismatic characters continue to capture the hearts of children and adults alike. The biggest hit of the year is Frozen with its double princess lineup, but even though Elsa and Anna are tremendously popular, when we think of Disney, the first image that comes to mind is still that of a certain talking mouse and his chirpy giggle.

That’s right, Mickey Mouse! And his gang of talking animal friends, of course. Although Mickey and friends wear clothes and talk and sing and dance, they are still not quite as human as they sometimes seem. Have you ever imagined what Mickey and Donald would look like as humans? Personally, I haven’t; not until now. Check out these fabulous “humanized” Disney characters drawn by Japanese illustrator Chaico!

These one-minute sex ed videos are proving to be a big hit in China 【Videos】

Every parent would agree that kids ask the toughest questions, albeit purely out of curiosity. The all-time-favorite question, “Where do babies come from?” can instantly send a mother into panic mode. She of course knows the answer, but the challenge lies in providing one that can satisfy the little tot’s thirst for knowledge, while censoring the details they simply aren’t ready for.

Nutcracker Studio, a creative team hailing from Beijing, China, produced three one-minute videos that could very well be a lifesaver for first-time parents. The three clips addressing sex education issues such as “Where do babies come from?”, “Why are boys and girls different?”, and “How minors can prevent sexual harassment”, instantly rocketed to fame, getting over a million views on Youku, China’s version of YouTube, and ranking in 2nd among hot queries on Baidu, China’s largest search engine.

All three videos after the jump!
