The Japanese engineering and academia circles were rocked this week by the emergence of the Riaju Coat (Fulfillment Coat), a robotic coat which provides a slightly less virtual girlfriend experience from that of dating sim games.
Now it appears this development has sparked a girlfriend simulation tech race with rival universities.
Nadeju Headphones (Stroking Fulfillment Headphones) were developed by an ambitious team at Maizuru National College of Technology (MNCT) to simulate the feeling a girl stroking your head.
Utilizing state-of-the-art “box tape technology” the team fashioned the headphones over a painstaking 30 minutes. In an added shot at the Tsukuba University team the MNCT added extra production value to their promotional video.
Making an A-B comparison between the two videos, we may find which device can claim superiority in the fast growing “fulfillment” sector.
Enthusiastic Project Member’s Dramatic Introduction
Riaju Coat’s Kota Shinbayashi VS Nadeju Headphones’ Ryota Togai
Both engineers have high energy to push their device, but Kota’s finger point comes off a little too overbearing. Ryota’s clenched fist is a little more inspirational especially with the Obama-like double handed open palm gesture he also used. [Advantage: MNCT / Nadeju Headphones]
Obligatory Engineer Giving Further Explanation and Obviously Smart Because He’s Sitting in Front of a MacBook
Riaju Coat’s Hikaru Sugiura VS Nadeju Headphones’ Hironori Inagaki
Hikaru’s glasses help support the case that he knows what he’s talking about, and both guys use “Obama hands” to drive their points home. However, Hironori throws in a perfectly tilted index finger which, combined with the futuristic looking blank olive background, gives him the edge. [Advantage: MNCT / Nadeju Headphones]
While MNCT seems to be winning out on the promotional game it’s the product that counts at the end of the day.
User Response
Riaju Coat VS Nadeju Headphones
The guy using the Nadeju Headphones seems happy, but when compared to the Riaju Coat’s user he truly looks 30-minutes-of-box-tape-work happy. The Riaju Coat guy seems to be getting closer to fulfillment due to the extra elbow grease put in by the Tuskuba U team. [Advantage: Tsukuba U / Riaju Coat]
So it seems the MNCT team won the marketing battle but Tsukuba had the better results with their device. If the two were to join forces, they might have a well-promoted and well-executed girlfriend simulator the likes of which we have never seen.
If they could just combine both devices into the Naderiaju Coatphones, then they could offer the fulfillment of dating Goro from Mortal Kombat.
