In an effort to convince all of Japan to enjoy an ice-cold Coca Cola during the hot and humid summer months, Coca Cola Japan has created a campaign giving anyone the chance to win a Coke bottle made out of ice. Click on to find out how they’re made, how to get your hands on one, and how not to enjoy a solid block of ice!
As the photo above shows, the campaign’s name is “kin kin! shiwa shiwa! Coca Cola!” which is hard to translate into English, but means the sound of something cold hitting your teeth, the sound of bubbles, and finally finished off with a hearty Coca Cola (with an exclamation point for extra pizzaz). In an official commercial for the campaign, we’re shown exactly how the ice bottles are made:
▼ A special mold is used…
▼ …and what appears to be an official Coke scientist preps the mold.
▼ He then pours in some water and after hours of freezing…
▼…a hollow bottle of ice is formed!
They actually look really cool! We wouldn’t mind trying to drink out of one…
There’s even a handy little snap cover that protects your hand from getting too cold.
And the official commercial showing off the bottles make them look so fun to drink out of!
▼ Sugoi!!!
▼ Best time of our LIIIIIVES!
▼ Don’t forget about the dog!
Everything is looking fun, people are dancing around, ice bottle in hand, even the jet black dog is having fun drinking Coke at the beach. And then this happens:
▼ Stop…Just wait a second!!! Don’t bite that!!
▼ He should have read the warning at the bottom telling you to not eat the ice bottle.
It’s not like it’s written in unnecessarily small white letters or anything.
While this young man is simply grimacing from the cold in the commercial, we all know in real life he’d be grimacing in pain because of his shattered teeth.
Anyway, the campaign is on now, so start collecting those little sticker points found on bottles of Coca Cola in Japan! Just three of them gives you the change to win a set of two bottles (more information on the official site). If you do win, just be sure to simply sip from your ice Coke bottle…don’t bite it. Also, as the kids on A Christmas Story taught us, don’t got licking or drinking from the bottle straight out of the freezer. You’ll wish you bit the bottle instead.
