Earlier today, Nintendo released a very special video listing 50 facts about the upcoming Wii U version of chaotic brawler Super Smash Bros. The 35 minute-long video contains a wealth of information for fans of the series to drool over, but perhaps the most exciting announcement of all is the fact that up to eight players can now take part in the same battle.
Time to buy some extra controllers, folks!
Due to technical constraints, eight-player matches will of course be limited to offline play only, so you’ll want to have a big TV and plenty of available seating in your living room to get the most out of it, but most people will agree that when it comes to Smash Bros, it really is a case of the more the merrier, so the increased player count will come as great news to many.
But of course, that’s just one of the 50 facts that Nintendo’s video presents. Also of note are the announcements that as of spring next year, those who own both the Wii U and 3DS versions of the game will be able to download freaky pokémon Mewtwo as a playable character, and that a special level featuring virtual billboards displaying hand-written messages from other players will be launching soon after the game is released.
▼Cute doodles, but we think the Nintendo dong police will have their work cut out for them with this feature…
You can check out full video–narrated by none other than the Super Smash Bros. announcer–below. We should warn you, though; after years of him shouting things like “You win!” and “free-for-all!”, hearing the guy reading full sentences in a semi-normal voice takes quite some getting used to.
