Great deal! Perfect location! Short walk to toilet!
If you missed your chance to live rent free in Kamakura, then maybe you’re looking for another way to save some money on rent. Japan has a couple special options like living in a “death room” or a refurbished love hotel, but if you’re in Hong Kong then there’s something extra special waiting for you: a rentable bathroom to live in for the equivalent of a mere US$250 per month!
Anxious for a tour? Watch a short clip of this unbeatable deal in person.
Well that was depressing! There’s just something about a “refurbished” shower being a place to sleep, plus a man sitting on a toilet like it’s a chair and playing with the faucet, that suddenly makes you feel thankful to live in a place where you actually have room to lie down.
▼ Here’s a nice visualization so you can get a bird’s eye view of
what living in this 30-square foot (2.8-square meter) “apartment” would be like.
they offer a whole 155cm to lie down!!!!! (for imperialists, that is about 5ft) pic.twitter.com/j92lUyCyTQ

For those wondering why charging $250 per month to live next to a toilet is even possible, Hong Kong is one of the most expensive cities in the world to live in. It consistently ranks far above New York and Los Angeles in “most expensive cities” lists.
▼ If only you got to actually live in the cyberpunk Kowloon Walled City,
then it might be worth it.
If you want to see more of what budget apartments in Hong Kong and other parts of China look like, then check out this series of photos. There’s some great ingenuity there, but there’s also some other apartments that make the bathroom look downright desirable.
