Get ready to binge watch all 26 episodes of Ronia the Robber’s Daughter.
Though the highly acclaimed Japanese animation studio has been relatively quiet these past two years with little new work being produced, English fans of the studio will soon have the chance to watch their 2014 project for the first time. That’s right, Ronia the Robber’s Daughter, the Studio Ghibli TV anime work adapted from the children’s book by Astrid Lindgren is coming to Amazon!
The story follows a young girl named Ronia and her family-clan of robbers who live in a Scandinavian forest. In the forest one day, she meets a young boy named Birk who turns out to be the son of the rival clan. You can probably guess the kind of hijinks that ensue from there. Though the series was harshly judged for jerky CG usage, the Studio Ghibli involvement certainly makes the series worth a look.

Few details have been announced about the English version so far, but Gillian Anderson, known for her role in The X-Files, is slated to be the narrator of the series. The show will likely be available online in countries where you can stream Amazon Prime Video including the U.S., U.K., Germany, Austria and Japan. With no plans to appear on other popular streaming platforms, perhaps Christmas would be a good time to join Amazon Prime.
