Looking for a way to give those in your immediate area looking for Wi-Fi a delicious treat? No? Well, me neither. But I do enjoy some pointless yet fun tricks to do with devices like Apple’s iPhone or iPad. Take, for example, this incredibly easy way to make your device show up on others as pieces of sushi and poo – or more!
The premise works the same as those who renamed their home wireless network to something fun like “FBI” to freak out their drug-dealing neighbors or “clean up your damn yard” for the messy ones.
However, this little trick uses your iPhone or iPad’s tethering feature, so rather than sending signals to your neighbors, this will send weird sentiments to random people in your proximity.
To do it, simply go into your iOS7 Settings. Then, select General and About. There you will be able to give your device a name like “Susie’s iPhone.” This of course will help it to stand out if you have a lot of Wi-fi around you.
But to really make it stand out, pull out the emoji keyboard. Then put one or several symbols into the device name. Exit Settings and slightly tilt your head up with a satisfied grin, because you’re finished.
When you’re ready to display your masterpiece, go back into Settings and turn on Personal Hotspot. When other devices detect yours when scanning for Wi-Fi, they’ll be treated to your sushi-poo platter.
You could also lay out a full course meal for them. Or, why not stand outside restrooms and surprise those trying to tweet on the can with simply the poo emoji? This way you can make friends and family think they’re pooping out Wi-Fi connections.
If you happen to find yourself with a lot of extra time to kill. Why not try to create a story using the wide range of emoji iOS7 has to offer?
At first I thought the only downside would be that these emoticons are exclusive to Apple devices. However, an Android device would pick up something like this:
Sushi-poo
Story
Not perfect but simple icon messages should translate well across platforms. Of course, you could always resort to the more classic emoticons for a wider impact.
So there you have it. Just another way these newfangled devices enrich our lives. Now get out there and spread the poop!
