PB 2

Back in the summer, we spent a day chasing Pikachus around Yokohama as part of the amazing, multi-day Pokémon event held in the bayside city. The smile it put on our faces still hasn’t completely faded, but that year’s supply of cuteness came with a price. While we were there we got a hug from one of the Pocket Monster ambassadors, and we now know only too well just how fluffy a Pikachu is.

It’s thrown our whole baseline off for what constitutes cozy and comfy. Compared to a soft Pikachu coat, our blankets now feel like burlap, and it’s been keeping us up at night. Thankfully, there might be a solution, in the form of this awesome Pikachu bed.

Available from online retailer Mercari, the Pikachu Bed is 220 centimeters (7 feet, 3 inches) long and 150 centimeters (4 feet, 11 inches) wide, meaning it provides enough space for the anime and video game’s target market of elementary school-age kids and what we’re assuming is the fringe group of Pokémon fans who’re also professional basketball players.

PB 1

Speaking of athletics, the Pikachu Bed tips the scales at 15 kilograms (33 pounds), meaning it can double as a lightly loaded Olympic barbell just as easily as an extra-heavy stuffed animal. Add in its primary function as an adult-sized bed, and the 39,800 yen (US$365) Mercari is asking for doesn’t seem like such a bad price.

PB 3

The outer cover can even be removed and washed, which will come in handy should you become so attached to the bed that you start eating your meals in it and spill ketchup from your Pikachu burger. So if you can’t get enough Pokémon, want a truly unique piece of furniture, or are just feeling sleepy, you can order yours right here.
