A man was arrested in Beijing last week on charges of voyeurism and taking illicit images of several women. The man, a landlord of an all-female residence, went to extreme measures to spy on his victims in their rooms, including installing hidden cameras and, unbelievably, a 2 metre tall one-way mirror of the type used during police interrogations. Which, ironically is what he had to face up to, once he was busted by one of the tenants who happened to spot snaps of her roommate on his phone.
The mirror installed by the landlord looked like an ordinary mirror from the viewpoint of the unsuspecting victim, but functioned as a clear window through which the criminal was able to spy on his tenants in their own home. These pictures show where the mirror was removed by police.
▼ The shower can be seen on the other side.
▼ The landlord also used video cameras to spy on his victims and record them.
One of the residents whose privacy was violated by the landlord said in a statement, “It all came to light when a few days ago, my roommate happened to catch a glimpse of a nude photograph of me on our landlord’s phone.” The roommate in question immediately moved out, with the remaining six female tenants reporting the crime to the police.
Police are currently investigating the shocking crime following the discovery of the mirror and hidden cameras in the residence.
