Bandai’s S.H.Figuarts line has released several figures from the Super Mario video game series: Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and important items from the games like pipes, blocks and coins. Its latest figures expand the collection with iconic enemy characters: a Hammer Bro, Lakitu and Spiny.
Anime News Network’s merchandise coverage sponsored by Omakase and Tokyo Otaku Mode.
The blocks and extra hammer are not included, although the stand and prop are. The playset costs 4,320 yen (about $36) and can be ordered here.
The top turtle himself, Bowser, is also available separately, complete with different mouths, hand positions, and a fireball to reenact his ongoing feud with Mario. The villain costs 6,480 yen (about $54) and can be ordered here.
A previous S.H.Figuarts campaign sold a Goomba, Koopa, Bullet Bill and Boo; it was delivered in September.
Both Bowser and his henchmen will be delivered in April. Bandai has filmed a zoetrope animation showing off its Mario figure (plus blocks, coins, mushrooms, pipes and shells).
