White Day, observed on March 14, is celebrated in Korea the same way it’s celebrated in Japan: by men confessing their love or returning the affections of the women who gave them chocolate on Valentine’s Day.
But what happens when your plans to leave the girl of your dreams a sweet surprise get you locked inside your school and running for your life, chased by possessed janitors and other ghastly haunts? You get the horror game Whiteday: A Labyrinth Named School, which is getting a re-make and will be released later this month.
Whiteday: A Labyrinth Named School, first released in 2001 by the now-defunct Korean game studio Sonnori, is a first-person survival-horror game that follows main character Hui-min as he attempts to leave a White Day gift on the desk of one of his popular female classmates.
Everything seems to be going well until the school closes with him trapped inside in the company of a few other students and some resident evil spirits, where it becomes a frantic race to make it out of the school alive.
A re-make of this cult thriller was announced at at recent game show in South Korea, and was promptly tweeted about by Shuhei Yoshida, the president of Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) Worldwide Studios.

The Korean studio behind the re-make, ROI GAMES, also uploaded a trailer for it just in time for Halloween:
Confessing your feelings to the girl you have a crush on trying to find the perfect White Day gift for a picky girlfriend can be gut-wrenching enough as it is even without having the holiday turn into a life or death situation.
The game is being released in South Korea later this month, but the thing that has us most excited about this remake is that it’s also being built for Sony’s “PlayStation VR” virtual reality headset, meaning that there will be absolutely no hiding away from the scary action. This is definitely one to look out for when the headset launches next year!
