Forget about renting an obviously unbelievable hottie; these rental boyfriends charm with more attainable good looks.
While pseudo-boyfriends have been bringing smiles, and even tears, to the faces of Tokyo ladies in recent years, there always seems to be an air of inauthenticity to their service, with general ages tending towards the lower age of the spectrum and the ikemen hottie level turned up to a host club eleven. Now, a service in Nagoya is offering a more realistic “cast” of boyfriends, with reasonably good looks and ages ranging from 19 years of age all the way up to 57.
▼ Cast profiles include each gentleman’s name, age, blood type, height, weight, and the areas in which they’re available.
Called “Ria Kare”, or “Real Boyfriend”, the rental service aims to provide women in the area with a variety of stylish escorts for a number of date-like scenarios.
▼ The “date course” options include a cafe or bar setting, dining out at a restaurant, window-shopping…
▼…visits to the park or dog walks, concerts, romantic night views…
▼ …amusement parks, zoos and aquariums, and karaoke singing sessions.
Basic rates start at 5,000 yen per hour, with 50 percent off rates during the month of your birthday. Second dates with the same gentleman come at a reduced rate of 3,000 yen per hour, while meals, transport, admission prices and other associated costs involved with the experience are paid for by the customer.
Despite the title, there are limits to what you can do with your “real boyfriend”. Sexual activity is off-limits, as is uninvited touching, with only the cast member allowed to initiate hand-holding during the date. While the men are able to drive your car if requested, meetings must be held in public spaces, with visits to hotel rooms, residences, and drives to remote areas out of the public eye strictly prohibited. Furthermore, they stipulate their service will not be made available to gang members, unsanitary people, drunks, illegal substance users, minors, and, surprisingly, women who are pregnant or think they might be pregnant.
While the company makes a point of protecting their staff, they also aim to provide their clients with a trustworthy, enjoyable service that’s becoming increasingly popular. With a large number of positive reviews on their website, from young 20-somethings all the way through to women in their 50s, the rental boyfriend phenomenon is one that won’t be stopping anytime soon.
